- The color of peony is whiter in the morning, pink after sunrise and dark red in the afternoon. That's why it is called "allochroic peony." The creator, Chang Dai-chien, transplanted peony from his hometown to "Garden of Bade" (the place showed in this painting). After transplanting, peony is still bloomy. The simple composition of this work is hard to achieve, it is all depends on creator's brilliant skill to sustain the whole structure. The "allochroic" peony is showed by single ink in this painting, which leaves an imagination space for people.
